Built by a dentist who got tired of the workarounds
OrthoRecords started as something I made for my own practice. It worked well enough there that keeping it to myself stopped making sense.
Why I built it
I'm a general dentist, and my office does a good amount of orthodontics: braces and clear aligners, alongside everything else a family practice handles. The dentistry was never the frustrating part. The records were.
Clinical photos sat in camera rolls and never reached the chart. Tracing a ceph ate half a lunch break. Treatment proposals lived in Word documents and printed packets. What I found on the market was built for full-time orthodontic offices, or wanted to replace a practice management system we were happy with.
Before dental school I studied electrical engineering, which probably explains why I couldn't leave it alone. I built the tool I wanted, put it to work on my own patients, and kept fixing whatever slowed my team down.
What it turned into
OrthoRecords is the orthodontic records layer for a dental practice. It runs beside the practice management system you already have.
Photos that file themselves
An assistant scans a code with an office phone and is walked through the series, shot by shot.
Ceph tracing in minutes
AI suggests the landmarks, you correct them, and the measurements calculate as you go.
Proposals patients accept
Options and fees go out as a link, reviewed and accepted from a phone.
Cases that track themselves
From records to retention, with the overdue ones flagged for you.
How I run it
- I use it every day.
- Everything here runs in my own office, on my own patients. If a feature slows an assistant down on a busy morning, it gets fixed or removed.
- It respects what you already have.
- Scheduling and billing stay where they are. Offices on Open Dental get patients and appointments synced through the Open Dental integration.
- Patient records are treated as patient records.
- Encrypted, access-controlled, logged, and covered by a Business Associate Agreement with every practice. The details are on the HIPAA & Security page.
